Regenerative and Aesthetic Gynecology
Regenerative and Aesthetic Gynecology allows us to improve the body aesthetics of intimate areas, the quality of sexual life, as well as the comfort of our patients.
Menopause, radiation therapy or the use of certain medications can cause vulvar vaginal atrophy. This translates into lack of lubrication, a feeling of vaginal dryness, local itching and an increased risk of stress urinary incontinence and vaginal infections.
Aging, wrong lifestyle habits as well as childbirth can also produce stress incontinence in some women. This is due to weakening of the pelvic muscles and the breakdown and aging of collagen in the pelvic floor. Therefore, this pathology will greatly affect your quality of life. It especially has an impact on young women, preventing them from performing certain activities like for example – sporting activities as well as carrying weights. In this way, at DermAge we have Regenerative and Aesthetic Gynecology for you.
Multiparity and Birth
It’s possible to develop vaginal hyperlaxity that will directly affect the patient’s sexuality. This type of patient may also have painful retractable scars from episiotomy, dyspareunia, and stress urinary incontinence.
At Clínica DermAge, we address this type of pathologies in the field of intimate and regenerative aesthetic gynecology, with maximum privacy for the diagnosis and selection of appropriate treatment with the support of specialists in Intimate Dermatology, gynecologists and urologists specializing in pelvic floor pathologies and vulvar vaginal pathology.
Treatments / Vaginal CO2 Laser and Vaginal Erbium Laser
It’s an outpatient technique that does not require hospitalization or anesthesia or complicated prior preparation, just a review by the specialist who will decide if any specific tests are necessary. The incorporation of normal life occurs in 99% of cases within the first 24 hours after the postoperative procedure and is not irritating, only a few small recommendations have to be taken into account during the first week. Depending on the case, between 2 or 4 consecutive sessions will be required per patient, spaced 5-6 weeks apart.
The thermal energy produced by the laser effect stimulates the deep layers of the vagina, improving vascularization, improving metabolism and favoring the local migration of fibroblasts that induce the production of new and fresh collagen. The increase in the production of new collagen fibers, their contraction and restructuring of existing collagen, corrects vaginal laxity, atrophy, and stress urinary incontinence, depending on the parameters and areas treated.
Laser application is done by introducing an applicator into the vagina. After the introduction of the high-tech laser, the laser light acts on the walls of the vagina in a homogeneous way. A local anesthetic cream is usually used half an hour before the procedure to minimize sensations of heat, only at the entrance to the vagina.
In experienced hands, a high-tech laser device, with a correct diagnosis and correct parameters using laser energy as occurs in the clinic at DermAge, there are practically no side effects of this technique.
Vulvo-vaginal Hyaluronic Acid Treatments / Infiltrations
It‘s an outpatient technique that doesn’t require hospitalization, anesthesia, just a review by Dr. Alexandra Osório who will decide if any specific test is necessary. Incorporation into normal life occurs in 99% within the first 24 hours. A priori, a single application is usually sufficient. Revisions are usually, depending on the case, at the end of one month and after 6 months.
Treatments / Infiltration of the Vagina Wall
It’s indicated in women who have symptoms of vulvo-vaginal atrophy, such as dryness, irritation, itching, discomfort, dyspareunia, tightness or burning sensation.
Its action is that, through hyaluronic acid, the middle and deep layers of the mucosa and semi-mucosa of the external third of the vagina are biostimulated and hydrated. In this way, we will be able to increase the thickness of the vaginal wall and maximum cellular hydration through the well-known capacity of attracting water to the skin hyaluronic acid. Biostimulation involves the stimulation and migration of fibroblasts to the area with an increase and restructuring of local collagen.
Treatments / Infiltration of Major Lips with Cannula
It’s oriented towards the reconstruction and filling of the labia majora of the vulva, in cases of moderate or severe hypotrophy (fat loss) secondary to aging or severe weight loss at menopause. This hypotrophy can produce functional and aesthetic changes. Hyaluronic acid acts as a volumizer, reshaping the deep subcutaneous skin of the labia majora.
It allows you to reproduce two regular labia majora, of equal size and volume, so that they protect the vulva and thus reduce friction and discomfort when playing sports or having sex. This type of hyaluronic acid can also be used to fill in very marked scars in the perineum after surgery or postpartum. It’s also used to fill the introitus – the so-called entrance to the vagina, which is often dry and burning. With fantastic aesthetic results.
Treatments / Labiaplasty and Aesthetic Changes to the Vulva
In some patients, due to body changes, surgeries, postpartum and other situations, the labia minora undergo changes in size and/or have asymmetries that, in many cases, can cause aesthetic and functional discomfort, which can lead to sexual dissatisfaction or difficulty and complex to perform the sexual act and discomfort in other facets of life, as well as in the practice of sport or professional life. Labiaplasty is the answer to this problem.
Labiaplasty, sometimes known as labial reduction or labia minora reduction or correction of labia minora asymmetries (before or after episiotomy) is a plastic surgery procedure. The Plastic Surgeon is responsible for cutting the labia minora so that they do not exceed the labia majora and thus avoid exposing these sensitive areas to friction. Lip trimming is done using laser technology that is more accurate and has fewer intra- and postoperative complications than classic surgery.
This type of cosmetic gynecology procedure is performed under local anesthesia associated with sedation. This surgery can take an hour or two and requires special facilities, but usually no hospitalization is required.
Lip incisions heal quickly and are rarely noticeable and sutures are resorbed so they do not need to be removed. The patient must strictly follow the postoperative recommendations for at least one week, during which time she usually needs relative rest.
